How to Evaluate Simphony API Licensing and Additional Costs

Assess STS Gen2 and other Simphony API subscription, entitlement, permission and cost questions.

Separate the POS subscription from API entitlement

An API subscription may be distinct from the general cloud POS service. Oracle's API Accounts guide notes that many APIs require a separate cloud subscription. Do not assume access is universally included or universally billable.

Define the exact interface

Evaluate STS Gen2 for supported transaction operations, BI API for bulk analytics and C&C for configuration needs. Start with one outlet and a defined business use case before purchasing optional capabilities.

Ask for a written commercial breakdown

Request the exact API product name, included modules and locations, existing-contract coverage, activation fees, recurring charges, provisioning time and ongoing support responsibilities.

An itemised response separates a genuine subscription gap from an unresolved administrative request.

Evaluate business value without invented ROI

Measure staff time and error handling in the current workflow, then compare them with realistic integration and support costs. Do not rely on unsupported savings percentages.

Even after purchasing an API subscription, account permissions and outlet mapping must be tested. Use the provider request template to establish the facts.

Compare like-for-like commercial offers

One quote may describe an 'integration fee' while another lists an 'API subscription'. Those may cover different work: implementation and support by an integrator versus a Simphony service entitlement. Separate one-off fees, recurring fees and the precise service included in each.

For example, a venue seeking only reservation-to-check processing should not automatically be assumed to need a BI analytics subscription. Establish the STS Gen2 transaction scope first; evaluate a BI entitlement separately if a reporting requirement is actually identified.

Working with Rezervem

Rezervem is an Oracle partner with an STS Gen2 integration. We evaluate supported workflows against the venue's actual subscriptions rather than assuming a specific Oracle or service-provider fee.
