Setting up and checking a pre-payment rule

Define the applicable service, party and payment conditions, then verify the actual payment outcome separately.

What does a pre-payment rule do?

A deposit collected before service can secure a reservation. Pre-authorization instead reserves card capacity under the relevant card and provider rules; it is not the same as a completed charge.

Choose when the rule applies

Decide which date, meal, area or party-size conditions require security. A special tasting dinner may have a different policy from regular lunch. Write the amount, modification and cancellation terms together.

Set up the supported payment flow

An authorized user configures the relevant payment rule within the venue’s enabled setup. This requires an active, properly configured virtual POS or payment provider. Pay also supports payment requests that are not linked to a booking.

Verify the result end to end

For illustration, a 40% deposit on a TRY 2,000 menu is TRY 800, leaving TRY 1,200 to settle later. Test the guest-facing amount, payment-provider result and venue record separately.

  • Does the rule apply to the intended dates, meals and parties?
  • Can you distinguish pending, failed and successful payment?
  • Are cancellation, refund and no-show terms explained clearly?
