Three APIs answer three different questions
STS Gen2 is a digital transaction interface for supported organisation, menu, pricing, check and payment workflows. BI API is for transactional and operational insight; Configuration and Content API deals with POS configuration records and permitted changes.
Oracle presents these as distinct surfaces in its Simphony integration programme. The workflow should determine the API, not the other way round.
Connecting a reservation to a POS check
When the business outcome is a check associated with an arriving reservation, the relevant transaction operations and location mappings must be evaluated. The STS Gen2 guide describes organisations, revenue centres, menus and check operations.
Reporting is not a check operation
Weekly sales analysis or large-scale historical retrieval should not be routed through STS Gen2 simply because the integration already uses it. Oracle excludes analytics and bulk transaction extraction from its intended use. Evaluate BI API entitlements separately.
Translate three business requests into API decisions
First request: 'Open a POS check after the guest is seated.' That needs supported transaction operations in the appropriate location and revenue centre, so evaluate STS Gen2. Second: 'Compare the most popular items last month.' That is a reporting requirement, so assess BI API. Third: 'Read or change POS configuration.' That belongs to the separate Configuration and Content API permissions model.
For each request, document the expected output, subscription, access scope and acceptance test. Treating all three as a single generic integration can increase unnecessary privileges and obscure ownership, cost and schedule.
Configuration is another permission boundary
The Configuration and Content API guide describes dedicated account types and privileges. An authorised C&C account may use Oracle's release version endpoint. Rezervem's STS Gen2 integration should not be misrepresented as evidence of a venue's BI or C&C entitlement. See the Oracle Simphony Cloud integration overview for Rezervem's validated transaction scope.
