A room number describes a location, not a person
Secure hotel guest login requires more than an easily guessed room number. Rezervem Stay should link the guest's access to verified accommodation context and the permissions supported by that hotel's installation. A room might belong to different travellers across consecutive stays. Claiming 'I occupy room 305' does not establish identity or entitlement to the room's records.
The required verification should match the sensitivity of the action. Restaurant access and changes to personal data or financial records may require different assurance.
Separate the entry channel from proof of identity
A hotel may offer QR links or room-and-date access. A static QR code can be photographed and shared, so it is not always personal proof; a time-limited authenticated link is a different access pattern.
Use appropriate protections against automated guessing and provide recovery for legitimate guests. Do not disclose detailed security thresholds in public instructions.
- Which trusted record matches the room with stay dates?
- Is the QR code general, room-bound or personally authenticated?
- Can legitimate guests recover from failed attempts safely?
- Does the session expire when the stay ends?
- Which sensitive actions require additional verification?
Test checkout, room changes and shared devices
One of the most important cases is an old guest session remaining active after the next occupant arrives. End stay-based authority when eligibility expires and avoid changing the underlying booking owner when a room changes.
Shared tablets, multiple adults, families and guests with several rooms need separate access decisions. Sharing one room does not automatically grant access to another person's payments or private requests.
Explain security without exposing personal data
Guest-facing errors should distinguish a failed action and next steps without telling an attacker which exact room and dates are valid. Financial retries must avoid duplicate charges.
Do not print identity numbers, payment card data or authentication tokens in logs. Service-related data processing and permission for marketing communications remain distinct.
Verify the product permissions end to end
Stay is the guest interface; a supported PMS confirms accommodation context. Manager, Pay and Hospitality enforce their own operation-level rights.
Before launch, test an unrelated room, an expired link, a guessed number, another hotel's QR code, repeated payment and access to an earlier occupant's records. A secure journey needs negative as well as successful tests.
