Oracle Simphony Cloud and Open APIs: How the Integration Ecosystem Works

Explore Simphony Cloud's open API architecture, STS Gen2 integration workflows, licensing and independent solution providers.

Abstract editorial diagram of Simphony open-api integration topic

What does an open API change for a restaurant?

The POS remains the source of truth for sales and checks, but reservations, guest relationships, payments and analytics may live in separate applications. An open API enables those systems to exchange data or perform supported actions under documented access controls.

Oracle explicitly describes a Simphony integration programme for independent developers. It covers transaction and back-office interfaces, partner development, validation and go-to-market opportunities.

Why does an open platform not imply automatic access?

Cloud hosting alone does not prove that STS Gen2, BI or Configuration and Content API subscriptions are enabled. Oracle's API account guidance distinguishes API types, account authorisation and additional subscriptions.

An integration can be technically possible without being available in a particular venue's current subscription. Confirm the deployed release, delivery model, relevant API, licence and authorised administrator before making a commitment.

Begin with the operation, not the connector

A hotel restaurant may need the arrival of a booked guest to create a linked check. Another venue may focus on posting an eligible prepayment or associating confirmed closed-check spend with the visit. These are distinct workflows with separate acceptance criteria.

Define the desired result, map the location and revenue centre, and run one controlled test. The version and API readiness guide shows which technical facts to collect.

How should a restaurant choose its first integration?

Imagine a restaurant group with two outlets that wants to associate bookings with POS checks. The first decision is about the workflow: where a booking is created, who seats the guest, which system owns the check and where confirmed spend belongs. Those answers identify the appropriate API operations.

Begin with one outlet, one revenue centre and a controlled test reservation. Confirm the subscription, provision an authorised integration account and record the acceptance result. The connection then becomes an operation the venue team can understand and support.

Where Rezervem fits

Rezervem is an Oracle partner with an existing STS Gen2 integration for Simphony Cloud. Rezervem Manager handles reservations and guest context, while Simphony remains the POS system of record. The integration overview explains supported check and eligible prepayment workflows.

Enabling a particular venue still depends on its subscription, permissions, mappings and technical validation. Open architecture is most useful when these conditions are transparent.
