Split prepayment for group restaurant bookings

Understand split prepayment for group restaurant reservations: per-seat shares, deadlines, payment completion and refunds, where enabled.

Restaurant guest payment and service operations

What the rule actually does

Unlike independent Rezervem Pay requests, Rezervem's split prepayment flow divides an eligible restaurant booking's required amount into seat shares so guests can pay with separate cards. The feature must be enabled for the venue and applies to prepayments, not every standalone Pay link or card authorisation.

A realistic service scenario

For a table of eight requiring TRY 4,000 in prepayment, the venue may collect TRY 500 from each seat. The organiser no longer needs to gather everyone's payment personally before confirming the reservation.

If one guest successfully pays while another abandons card authentication, only the confirmed collections count. Declaring the whole booking paid before the target is reached could mislead both finance and seating operations.

The operational boundaries

The split workflow requires an eligible prepayment, at least two guests, an enabled venue and an adequate payment window. The first-payment deadline can differ from the booking's final payment cutoff.

Changing the guest count, dividing a table-wide fixed total versus a per-person amount and issuing a refund are separate decisions. Changes that conflict with already-paid seats or an expired deadline need careful handling.

Five checks before launch

Verify the process with a test booking rather than relying on a button label.

  • Verify that split prepayment is actually enabled for the restaurant.
  • Confirm the party size and that the booking requires prepayment rather than a card hold.
  • Check whether the amount is per person or a fixed table total and inspect each share.
  • Explain the first-payment and final-payment deadlines to participants.
  • Track paid, pending, expired and refundable shares separately and compare them with the target.

How Rezervem handles the workflow

Rezervem Manager manages party size and the reservation state. The split payment service tracks each participant's confirmed payments toward the target. Outstanding shares are not treated as collected money.

Rezervem Pay handles general payment requests, but a split reservation prepayment is a distinct workflow. Test its enabling conditions, cancellation and refunds in an authorised test venue.

FAQ: Is split prepayment available at every restaurant?

No. It requires venue enablement and an eligible booking.

FAQ: Does this split a card authorisation into seats?

No. The supported workflow is for reservation prepayments, not general holds.

FAQ: Does a partly paid booking become fully paid?

No. Outstanding shares and deadline rules remain relevant until the target is reached.
