Asador Etxebarri in Atxondo, Spain, was named the world’s best restaurant in The 50 Best Restaurants 2026 ranking announced in Lima, Peru, on 4 November. For restaurants responding to renewed guest interest after an award announcement, Rezervem Manager supports reservation and floor-plan management in one operational workflow.
The official 2026 top 50 ranking was unveiled in Lima on 4 November 2026. The organisation has used the name **The 50 Best Restaurants** since September 2026; it was previously known as **The World’s 50 Best Restaurants**.
What stands out about the top three restaurants?
At No.1, Asador Etxebarri is known for chef Bittor Arguinzoniz’s mastery of wood-fire cooking. Gaggan, in second place, takes an imaginative and experimental approach in Bangkok. Third-placed Alchemist blends gastronomy with art and a multi-stage dining experience in Copenhagen.
Quintonil in Mexico City (No.4) and Wing in Hong Kong (No.5) complete the top five. Kjolle in Lima reached No.7, while Copenhagen’s Kadeau climbed to No.8 and received the Highest Climber Award.

Neolokal at No.94: Türkiye’s place in the extended ranking
Istanbul restaurant Neolokal ranked No.94 on the 51–100 list released on 21 October 2026. The organisers highlighted chef Maksut Aşkar and his team’s contemporary interpretation of Turkish culinary heritage. **Neolokal is in the extended top 100, not the top 50**, and there is no restaurant from Türkiye in the 2026 top 50.
The recognition helps bring Türkiye’s culinary traditions to a wider international audience. Congratulations to the Neolokal team. This ranking is separate from the restaurant’s other awards. For a different recognition, see our article on Maksut Aşkar’s 2026 Inspiring Chef Award.
How is the ranking decided, and is it the same as Michelin?
The list is based on votes from more than 1,100 restaurant experts across 28 geographic regions. Voters must have eaten at their nominated restaurants within the previous 18 months. There is no fixed scoring checklist, and Deloitte independently adjudicates the voting process. See the official voting methodology for the complete rules.
The 50 Best Restaurants ranking is separate from Michelin stars and Gault&Millau toques. Being No.1 in this list does not mean a restaurant has received three Michelin stars. Our Michelin and Gault&Millau comparison explains the distinctions.
What should a restaurant do after an award announcement?
Imagine a restaurant receiving international recognition and then fielding more questions about available tables, set menus and cancellation terms. Demand does not rise by the same amount for every venue, but guests still need consistent, up-to-date answers whether they book online or call the host team.
A practical response is to check service dates and party-size limits, review the floor plan, confirm seating and cancellation policies, and make sure the team knows who handles each reservation channel. These operational decisions remain with the restaurant.
Rezervem Manager helps teams keep reservation records and table plans together. It is not affiliated with The 50 Best Restaurants ranking; it supports the everyday work of turning guest enquiries into a well-organised service.
