How can a restaurant notify guests about a gift?

Start by verifying that Rezervem Gift created the entitlement, its code and expiry. Then check which messaging channel the business can use: WhatsApp, SMS or email, subject to the relevant configuration and permissions.

A guest not receiving a message does not necessarily mean the Gift was not created. These are different steps with different checks.

1. Confirm the gift record first

Open the correct guest profile and check the benefit title, code, valid venue and expiry. Keep an older cancelled or used gift separate from the new one.

If the record does not exist, investigate the issuance process. If the entitlement exists, do not grant a duplicate just to resend information.

2. Check WhatsApp eligibility

Gift WhatsApp notification requires a supported provider and the guest's current, verified relevant marketing consent for the associated restaurant. An approved template alone does not authorise delivery.

Where these conditions are not met, the system can follow its supported SMS path. Do not tell the team that any guest with a phone number can always be reached on WhatsApp.

3. Review the SMS fallback?

Gift can use its configured SMS text or a supported fallback message when WhatsApp cannot be used. The account still requires a working SMS provider and an appropriate phone number.

Check the content and the guest's language before sending. A fallback path should be tested in the actual venue configuration rather than assumed to work everywhere.

4. Configure email separately

Email notification requires a usable guest email address and a configured SMTP or email-delivery setup. Gift supports language-aware text for the eligible guest.

Review the sender details and the displayed reward rules. A correctly created email body does not by itself establish successful delivery.

5. Keep information consistent across channels

The benefit name, expiry, link and code should agree with the entitlement shown to staff. Avoid a campaign message promising a wider benefit than the actual Gift rules allow.

If a reward is valid only on weekday lunches, make that limitation clear to the guest before the return visit.

6. Distinguish use and expiry messages

Gift also has workflows for redemption and expiry notifications. These are different messages from the initial grant, and they depend on applicable configuration and available contact channels.

Inspect the actual Gift status before answering an enquiry. A used or expired benefit cannot be reactivated merely by resending the original notification.

7. Decide when Connect is needed?

A one-to-one notice about an existing Gift is not the same as a campaign to an opted-in audience. Rezervem Connect manages permitted segments and outbound communication.

Keep message marketing permission and Gift issuance separate. Creating a Connect campaign does not automatically produce or redeem a Gift entitlement.

Final pre-send checklist

Check the guest, code, venue, validity rules and preferred language. Verify the chosen provider and required consent, then examine the available notification results.

Ask the service team to confirm the entitlement can be recognised at the next visit. A successfully sent message has value only if the promised benefit can be honoured.
