How Do You Measure Reservations from a WhatsApp Campaign?

Measure WhatsApp campaign delivery and engagement separately from bookings that can be reliably linked to the campaign.

Measure WhatsApp campaigns with the results the messaging system actually records: sent, delivered and read messages, guest replies and delivery failures. Rezervem Connect displays these metrics and produces a downloadable PDF campaign report. It does not currently show an automatic count of reservations attributed to the campaign.

Who is this reporting method for?

Restaurant owners, marketing managers and multi-venue operations teams can use this structure when evaluating a new-menu invitation or an event campaign. It is especially useful when dashboards show impressive read counts but no evidence that guests actually made or completed reservations.

1. Read target and send totals

Record the selected audience and the contacts eligible after permission checks. Then distinguish messages submitted, delivered, read where receipts are available, and replies or opt-outs. These are different stages of communication, not alternative names for the same result.

Device privacy settings and platform conditions can affect read information. A missing read receipt should not automatically be labelled as disinterest. Use consistent definitions across reporting periods.

Connect reports targeted, sent and failed messages as separate totals. Delivery and read counts continue to update as messaging statuses arrive.

  • Selected and eligible recipients
  • Messages submitted and delivered
  • Read status where available
  • Replies, opt-outs and errors
  • Bookings or visits linked through a verified method

2. Separate deliveries from failed messages

An eligible campaign audience does not mean every message can be delivered. Account status, the approved template, recipient number and Meta platform responses can all affect delivery.

Group failures by cause instead of repeating the same unsuccessful send to every number. Use the relevant error information to improve list quality and the next attempt, while respecting current refusals.

Sort failed sends by their recorded reason to improve list quality. The campaign report groups those failures for operational review.

3. Review reservation records separately

Campaign messages carry a booking (CTA) button. Reservations made from it are tracked as conversions on the Campaigns screen in Manager.

Rezervem Connect reports message delivery and guest responses; Manager's Campaigns screen shows the conversions from the booking button. Read the two together, and do not present message reads as bookings.

4. Download the campaign PDF

Write down the campaign objective, date, sender, audience rules, exclusions for permission reasons, template used, sends, deliveries, replies and any verifiable booking outcomes. Preserve the distinction between a marketing report and operational reservation data.

For example, an invitation to a tasting evening might generate many responses without producing a table booking. Those responses are useful for assessing interest, but they should not be reported as paid covers or confirmed visits.

Download the PDF from the campaign result view. Where a template uses quick replies, the same results show responses for each option.

5. Compare relevant reply outcomes

When evaluating two invitations, choose one variable, such as the message wording or call to action, while keeping the groups and sending conditions as comparable as possible. Do not change audience, timing and content simultaneously and then attribute a better outcome to one of them.

An A/B result based on a very small audience may not be meaningful. Include increased opt-outs and guest fatigue in the discussion instead of optimising solely for send volume or read rate.

6. Prepare a clear management summary

Put campaign goal, eligible contacts, sends, delivery, available reads, replies, opt-outs and verified reservations side by side. Explain the date range and whether campaign audiences are comparable. Report uncertainties plainly if attribution was not available.

The strongest summary is not the one with the largest claimed conversion count; it is the one that shows which numbers can actually be substantiated and which decisions the team can take next.

Where Rezervem fits

Rezervem Connect reports targeted, sent, failed, delivered and read messages, delivery/read/reply rates and choices selected in quick-reply templates. Download and share the PDF results report. Reservations made from the booking button in the message appear as conversions on the Campaigns screen in Manager.

For practical details, use Connect and Meta WhatsApp policy.

Important limitations

  • Connect's campaign report measures messages and replies; conversions from the booking button are tracked on Manager's Campaigns screen.
  • A missing read receipt is not proof a guest ignored the message.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is a read receipt a campaign conversion? — No. A booking or completed visit is a separate outcome.
  • Can I count all subsequent reservations as campaign results? — Only where there is a verified attribution method supporting that claim.
  • What should my first report contain? — Show eligible contacts, sends, deliveries, refusals, replies and verifiable bookings separately.
